So far I have noticed about the same behavior. Much smaller in size, the German Blues seem to be more aggressive, but they really are not messing with each other too much.

Definately one of my favourites.
I have tried keeping them, but have failed time and time again. I think they are too sensitive to my water

Yes, Rams are very sensetive fish.
Soft (GH3) acidic (6.5) water with no ammonia, no nitrite and very little even no nitrate.
Ofcourse, my lfs never discussed this with me and so over time 4 Rams went sadly to their doom, which made me very angry due to not being told of their water requirements and a little guilty.
