Jay Jay you cheat!! :p

Yes it is an electric eel, which is a member of the knife fish family.

Nice!

For a useless electric eel fact, their charge is held much like a series of batteries. Put one hand on the tail and one on the nose and you get the worst shock, however if you touched them at one end of the body you would get a much smaller shock...

If i ever go to CFC's fish house i now know not to grab his eel as ill leave with my hair smoking and a black eye. Nice fish what tank mates does he have?

No tankmates at all, even the couple of little ramshorn snails i had in the tank decided within 2 minutes that crawling out of the water and sticking to the cover was a better option than sharing with the eel

They need only a 6ft tank right?

Yes and no, hopefully it wont need a tank much larger than that as an adult as from what little information i've gathered 2-3 feet seems to be a maximum in captivity, but in the wild adults have been measured up to 6 feet long so it may end up needing to go to a public aquarium at some point, time will tell :/

I know how they do give out such high wattage, I was watching the Discovery Channel the other day, and apparently we all have an electrical charge in our skin cells, but their cells are formed a certain way, and then can build up the electrical charge and let it out when they want. I can't remember rightly, but I think they can charge up to 350W's, but don't count on that.
