I quite like them when they are that size, just before they put on the big growth and really deepen up in body size. How many others does he have to shoal with?

WOW this really proves lfs's should state the adult size of thier fish i quite liked the one i saw today at about 3inches long

That shark is barely half grown, plenty of growing left there. And they get very deep as they get bigger, by the time my ones hit 8" long they are about 3" top to bottom without fins

Don't like to pick at you and sorry if you feel like i am but a bala shark needs 75G and grow to 13" they also prefere to be in groups which means idealy minimum of 125G. Also the puffer should not be ina community tank. Are the RTBS acting agressive towards each other because they are normally very agressive wiht their own species. And could you elaborate on the brown eels?
Dont worry about being picky lol. I know the silver sharks grow big, but it depends on the size of the tank and amount of fish in it. For instance, a shoal of 6 '3in' silver sharks in a 3ft tank would be happy and I doubt they would grow much bigger than 5in because of the size of the tank and because of there being 6 of them and not 1.
I would normaly have about 3 of them because they do like to be in groups like u said, But it was the only 1 of its size and had to get him, and there aint any room left...well not intill I get me next tank lol
The guy at my lfs said that the puffer would be fine in my set up, but I have been reading up on him and now i know that he is very aggresive. But I have to say, he has been totaly fine with all the other fish and is eating his blood worm happily lol.
I know what you mean about the RTBs, but I have been keeping of RTBs in groups for over the past 6 years...and never had a problem. Mabey im just lucky lol
I will try and get some pics of the brown looking eels tonight when its feeding time.

Im sorry but you are completly worng about the bala sharks, they grow to 13" full stop no argument. The only reason they may not is because they can be kept in tanks to small for them then this stunts their growth and gives them a very early death. Also its not jsut that the puffers are agressive its also that they just wont like being in a community tank.

I feel sorry for that bala...For full grown balas I would recommend nothing less than 6x2x2. you need a group, and IME 3 is not large enough. I would say 5 minimum, the more you add, the better the fish behave and the more calm they become.
I have seen first hand the curved spines (vertebrae) of fish kept in too small conditions forcing them to be constantly curled. It is not nice. A 3 foot tank is nowhere near large enough for balas.
