So last week I went into the pet store in town, they always have some great bettas, different types etc., and I saw this little girl, who was so cute, and I was thinking I would get her,but talked myself out of it. I went back yesterday, after having decided that I really wanted her, and picked her up, as I was looking more, I saw a whole bunch of DTs. So, needless to say, I couldn't resist, and bought him as well. Then I went full out fish shopping, as I had to get gravel that would match them, I only have one empty tank, so I had to buy another, and well, with every new betta, I get them a decoration of their very own. Three pet stores later, I was home. :kana:

I immediately knew a name for the girl (wo is a pale yellow) her name is Lucy. Lucy.002.jpg Lucy.001.jpg (sorry for the poor phototaking, I am not good at it at all)

The boy is a DT (i think from looking at all the photos of them) But he has no name!! No_Name.002.jpg

I need help choosing his name, if anyone doesn't mind giving me a hand!

Now one question, Lucy is very small, and when i try to feed her the flakes, even though they are tiny pieces, she will put it in her mouth, and spit them out. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have bloodworms, but I fear they are too big for her, I also have "Betta Food" and Brine Shrimp Flakes. If anyone has any ideas, it would be so appreciated!

i think im right in saying that bettas are a bit reluctant to eat whilst they are still settling in, you may want to seek advice from the more experienced members on this one. names, names names names......lol this sounds funny but i looked at him and tried to think of a name and for some reason the name Bret just came to me, another name could be...... lol im trying to think of something thats blue and red the he could be named after, nah, i cant think of anything. you could always name him george :shifty: coughaftermecough

The other ones i have gotten that were new were reluctant to eat, they just don't go near the food, Lucy tries to eat, it seems, but I think the flakes might be too big for her, and i don't know what else to feed her.

The no name boy eats fine though (then again he is larger than Lucy).

Any ideas?

And thanks for the name suggestions, I will put them in my list!!!

I doubt her size has anything to do with it. As long as she can get the food in her mouth, it's fine. Some bettas like to chew the food, spit it out, and then eat it again, which is just a natural thing, although it's messy. However, many bettas will spit out their food when they come to a new home, probably in hopes that they'll get something better. ;) Or maybe she's just picky. I use pellets because a lot of my guys and gals refuse to eat flakes. One even refused everything except frozen food... which was a pain. :p

Anyhoo, the new fishies are very nice!! :)

Thanks, so I guess i will keep feeding them to her, and then she will eat when she's hungry. The other new fish (still with no name) eats fine even though i got him yesterday

I don't know if this is welcome or unwelcome advice, but I just gotta say...

How big is that tank? Cause if it's teh size it looks, hell, if it's any size, I think there is WAY too much gravel in there... should be less than a quarter of that... I have heard that if you have too much gravel it allows too much space for the bad things in the tank to hide and such... reccomendation is to just have enough to cover the bottom.

Yea I agree, WAY TOO MUCH GRAVEL. I set up a 5 gallon the other day(check Signature) and in it is about 1/4 inch of gravel and thats enough for most fish to be happy, heck you really dont even have to get fish gravel it just makes the tank look better. If you need info on bettas go to aquariumfish.net and browse around until you find bettas, thats where i got all my info on where to house bettas and stuff(plus I got info off here) but yea way too much gravel.
