I have always thought that this is a male but I'm not so sure....thanks

lace and pearls are the same fish [also t.leeri]. From your photo[very nice gourami by the way ] i would have said he was a male , it has a longer dorsal fin and the lower anal fins are long and of a good red colour . pebbles

i know they same famaily but aren't they slightly differeant species.. i thought pearls were white and slightly pinky

yup u guys were right they are the smae fish i got confused with the kissing gourami thinking it was called a pearl gourami.....ohwell

Gorgeous fish! Pearl Gouramis are one of the most beautiful fish species I know. Definitely FOTM!

i agree, nice fish. it must be a resonalbly old fish because of the colour (mature male), am i right.

Same thing. They're just the two common names for Trichogaster leeri.

That looks like a female to me, but if you've got another, more dominant male in the tank it could also be an under-developed male.

It probably is somewhere in the world. That's the problem with Common Names - they tend to be local.
