Hi everyone! I am sort of a ghost around here. Right quick: I have 32 bettas, 2 golden wonder killifish, 1 Flying Fox, 2 dwarf puffer fish, 1 oto, 4 Singapore shrimp, 15 ghost shrimp, 22 red cherry shrimp, 5 guppies, 2 black mollies, 7 brigs snails, 1 Columbiam Ramshorns, 3652436872634 European ramshorns, 2374387 MTS, 437687236 pond snails, and live plants. I think that's everything.

On to the main point:

I have a melano PK male (spade tail) and a copper HM female that I put into a spawn tank a few days ago. I am trying to start a program for copper masked black HMPKs.

This afternoon, they spawned! I am so happy, but nervous all the same.

So, the male beat up my female pretty good. She's now resting in IAL water and being kept calm and quiet.

The male also took a few good hits from the female.

They weren't spawning for very long. I took her out because he started attacking her, and not in a good way.

I took some pics, but I warn you! I used my camera phone, so get out your magnifying glasses! No, it's not okay to send me your eye doctor bill!!

Congrats and good luck :good:

You'll have to be especially careful with melano fry as they tend to be a little harder to raise because of their genetics, i could nvr get a black spawn to last long

LOL Thanks!

Apparently, I have chosen two of the most difficult colors to breed. I have also been told that coppers are also difficult to even hatch; they need a specific pH and temperature.

Also, I think that this spawn is a dud. It's been nearly 50 hours since the eggs were put into the nest, and they haven't hatched. I don't think I had the correct temperature in the tank.

I am going to leave the male in the tank for a little longer. If nothing happens in the next day or so, then I will remove him and recondition him. The female is already being reconditioned. I may just leave the tank up with the nest while the pair are being reconditioned, just in case something does happen in there.

We'll see. -_-
