I have completely taken up our whole hearth with bettas . Not that my mom really seems to mind, but I was planning on getting another betta in a few months. The bad thing is I have nowhere to put one. I wanted to do something along the lines of shelving in my room above my bed, but then I figured that would be a bad idea since my dog and cat are always running in and out of my room. I think our hearth would hold maybe one more betta, but we would have to take down pictures and everything. Plus, in a few months I plan on buying bigger tanks for all the bettas...So..I don't know.
Any Ideas appreciated.

 lets have a piccie of your hearth...cant they all budge up a bit!

:hey: great you could get another 2 on there if you just put tanks on and got rid of all the stuff you normally have on a shelf  I wish my shelves were that big I have to make do with work surfaces in the kitchen!

this one is easy to fix. get another betta that is for sure. but what you do is move your containers closer together and put computer paper in between to control constant flareing and remove it when you want them to. also get anther critter keeper like your middle one and turn the one sideways ( not like you have it but the other way; not this --- but have the long sides facing the other tanks. this frees up room. also get all critter keepers as the are about 1 gal US each (at least mine are) and you can ut them all like that and get even more bettas and your mom can still have her pictures up. doing it with the critter keepers will allow you to have like 6 total.

see my pic for example of what i'm talking about:

So get them all critter keepers and turn the critter keepers sideways? But..I like them to face the front :p
:p

well, it would alow you to have more, but if you want ot see them better i guess you could move the ones closer together that you have and add another one and see about that. otherwise you can only get one more, the other way you could get at least 2. but whatever works best for you.

good luck :good: :D

Get a nice set of shelves. Or just clear off the top of your dresser and fill it (and tables and windowsills) with tanks like I did. :D

There are LOTS of places other than a hearth where tanks fit in. Mine are on coffee tables, side tables, kitchen counters, etc. If you have a cat, that could be a problem... but as long as there is a secure lid, it shouldn't. I agree that it'd be much smarter to make sure you have plenty of room, and you've upgraded your current betta homes, before you take in any more.

This is the very reason for my signture... I'm hooked too...BettaBum was even trying to get me to take three more guys!! I would have seven! :hyper: but alas, no room or money to get them...

Haha, I'm not trying to conspire. :p :look: I'm just trying to think of ways to make my mom happy. I could move them on tables, but we DO have a cat. The lid on Ariel's tank is alot more secure than those on the boys. I could get them all critter tanks, they seem much easier to clean based on Ariel's itself. I'm trying to save up money to get them all bigger tanks. They certainly deserve it since they're all my first bettas and they're sorta test subjects. (As in, they have to go through my first try at betta care for diseases, fin rot, etc..if you get what I'm saying) I'll figure out something to do :D.

My Walmart has Critter Keepers that are like five gallon ones, so you might check into that. if you want them cuz they are easier to clean, but want more water in them. :)
