Lovely fish, i picked up a single 3" ATF myself last week, i wish i had picked up more but i was worried about their tiny size as they are certianly not cheap. What sort of growth rates have you been getting and what do you feed?

Thanks for your comments.. Nice to hear you got an ATF, but try and get a few more as they're completely different in a small shoal, young ATFs are very fragile and on their own tend to be very skittish and not a great deal of fun.. But saying that, any less than five and they'll probably fight untill one remains..
They're growing very slowly at the moment, i doubt they'll be a foot long within the first year, so you've got a bit of time to save up for the huge tank.. They are easy to feed too, all of them go mad for chopped lancefish and bloodworms, they've also started eating floating arrowana sticks.

Good to hear yours are taking pellet foods, once that happens the battle is over with predatory fish's feeding habbits. My little one is taking frozen bloodworm and gamma shrimp but so far seems uninterested in any larger foods. It shoals with 6 silver dollars and has shown no signs of their usual skittish nature, i had 3 a few years before and lost them over a period of months to injuries caused by them smashing into the ends of the tank but this one was happily swimming around my arm while i did my weekly maintainance, though i dont know if i'll be happy with that when its bigger  If there are any still about the next time i'm able to get over to the shop that had them i may get 4 more as they have always been one of my favourite fish though really i should get my fishhouse completed before i invest in any more large growing fish, the current fish room is full by anyones standards :X

Cool, yours sounds very happy.. it makes a real difference to their behaviour when they have something to shoal with, alot of people keep their atfs on their own, which quite often leads to tragedy.. just as long as you don't mind him chewing on his friends when he starts outgrowing them..
