please help, i lost another ram like this last week :(

ph 7
hardness 140
nitrite 0
ammonia 0
40l tank
under gravel and hood filter
26 degrees C

i've added a photo of the fish to help you guys out, unhealthy fish to the left healthy to the right.

fish has seems to be panting for a week or so now, i thoguht notihng of it because other than the 'panting' the fish has been healthy, brightly colored, fins up, eatign well, only the painting. today when i woke up i found him on the bottom the the tank, the current of the filter pushing him around a little, his colour is no where near as vibrant as his tankmate, note the rosy nose in the picture, he is still panting. i've already dont a 1/3 water changeand turned up the air valve on the filter, if anyone has any other suggestions, please help me i love this fish, im goign to be devistated if he dies :(

thanks

kind regards

-kat

i also forgot to say that he has some bleeding around his top fin, i tihnk you can see it a litle in the photo sick_ram.jpg

HI..you didn't post what your nitrate levels were????? I think your ram has a bacterial infection, suggested by the blood at the base of his dorsal fin and the brownish discoloration. If it were mine, I would immediately quarantine him to a hospital tank, add aquarium salt and start antibiotics. A tetracycyline based drug is what I would go with. SH
