I have a banana plant that is really looking bad! It was Ok until I started a fishless cycle... Is it dying and can I do anything to help? I have just reworked this aquarium and added sand and now I am having to cycle again. I am wondering if the high dose of amonia is killing the plants?

mine don't even have leaves. whoever said banana plants are easy to grow really needs to tell me how to care for them.

Banana plants need high light, i was told the same thing but after the research i found out they need 2WPG+ to survive. Plants use NH3 so that won't be killing them. If you have only added sand and your filter still has matured media in then you don't need to cycle.
