New Tank, Dont Know What Plants To Get

the bulb is 40w, im not very good with plants as ive only kept java fern and elodea, i was looking for somw kind of plants that if my platies have babies they can hide, plants that will look good in a 39gal and that dont need C02.
got any ideas?

You wont be able to grow much with only a wpg. You should upgrade your lighting for a variety of plants.

Most floating plants would be ideal. They're close enough to the light to do well and CO2 is available via the air. They'll also provide shelter for any fry.

39g tank with a 40w bulb? Whats the dimension of the tank m8? How much water column is there above the gravel?

40W or a single fluoroscent is not great light but there are plenty of plants that you can grow..

Cryptocorene wendtii, beketii will be fine in that light. Hygrophylla polysperma, Valliseneria, Anubias, Java Moss, floating plants can also do but then with siuch low light they will shadow the lower plants.

Unfortunatly, none of these can really help baby plaies hide and you will need more light for a bushier hygrophylla or the likes of cabomba and floating riccia.

Ah.. no. you may only be able to grow crypts, Java moss, Anubias and ferns in there. I am not sure if you can grow polysperma.
You will need more light for anything else.

how much would it be to add more light?

Ideally have 2x 40W bulbs. These are more then enough to grow jungles of Hygrophulla polysperma or Limnophilla aquatica apart from most crypts, Valliseneria and amazon swords.

You will have a lot more options then what I have mentioned once you have 2wpg light.

Aquatics online sells a twin 40W ballast/control gear for £19.99 I think or somewhere around that.
