Ok - here's a shot of my new 19 Gallon I got on sale. Dual Fluorescent lighting, automatic light timer, and "Biolife" filtering system.

The filter looks decent enuff. Never seen one like that before though. Only problem I can see is that it takes up one side of the tank. Less room for more fishies. Can you post the stats on the filter?

Sol, I think I have the same tank as u do!! Is that a Tropiquarium 68 from Hagen? I have to add an air bubble wall along the back of the tank because food flakes can get trapped easily just at the corner where the filter is!

Other than that, I think it's doing a good job coz it holds more beneficial bacteria in the "dry" chamber. So I don't have to worry of killing the bacteria when rinsing the filter foam etc.

However, it's quite difficult to take out the "dry" chamber unit as there'll be some brown algae growing at the bottom. Taking out filter foam etc is easy tho.

KH, here I can't find anywhere selling Biolife filter alone, so has to buy as a kit. As for the stat:
output without air: 93 g/h
Output with air: 90 g/h
Biological water input: 0.4 - 0.55 g/m
Actually I have no idea what these means, just copied from the manual ;) :p

Hey feline! Guess we have the same tank!

I don't know the stats either for the filter, but it is all in one.

One question: would it be safe to cycle it with my comet?

Another question I forgot to ask, and mainly for feline, unless someone else knows.

What should I set my heater at? I put it on 3 just for now.

Hi Sol!

Sorry I have no experience in comet or other coldwater fish so I don't know if Comets are hardy enough to go through a cycle.

The best way is to cycle the tank without fish. U can use pure ammonia instead.

Do u have another tank? U can take the "Hex-nodes" from the Biolife and put it in ur established tank to grow some beneficial bacteria b4 cycling the new tank. This will shorten the time to cycle a bit.

What kind of heater you got? Mine is a Tronic aquarium heater (100W) that comes with the aquarium n filter (yeah the all in 1). There's a dial for u to set the temperature in farenhit. I don't see a "3" in there :/ Perhaps your heater is different?

Btw, the stats r in the owner's manual (last few pages).

HTH! :D

The tank is a work in progress - here's the latest shot. I apologize for the shadows.

Does anyone have a recommendation for blacklights? My rocks supposedly glow cool with them

Looking good!! But I would suggest u to put the filter on the either side instead of at the back, because the current will flow better so filtering water will b more efficient that way ... ;)

i got the 88 version.

cool tank. been very pleased with it for two years now. i've kept the filter on the back but maybe i'll move it to the side...not sure.

good luck
