Umm dude... you really shouldnt have them in the same tank if you have (you didnt say) and VT are in all very hard to find homes for. Breeding bettas is not as simple as putting them together and wait for babies, it's a very hard process that only a few can get right every time. Please spend the next few months reading the FAQ articles here and other websites.

EDIT: You have got them in the same tank  please take out the male and buy a few more females or remove both females from the tank and seperate them

You'll need a little Barry White going on in the background too...

There's plenty of sites, pinned topics etc. However, I really think you should do some long, hard research.

Point 1. Do you have enough room/money for several large growout tanks, and then what could turn out to be hundreds of fry, all the males of which will need individual tanks by the time they're a few months old?
Point 2. What you have there are petstore veiltails, which are nice, but there are hundreds and thousands of unwanted veiltails that die every month. What will make yours wanted? Who will take hundreds of baby bettas (considering most shops won't buy male bettas under a year old).

Just two of many points to consider. Oh yes, plus the point of whether one will kill the other during/after spawning, which can and does happen.

hi thanks for the quick responce, ok first thing im not going to breed them sounds like to much hard work. and i havnt got any barry white  . but why cant you keep them in the same tank because when i bourght them the bloke in the shop said i should have at least 2 females to every male.
thank you

Becasue if the mood takes any one of them, they'll kill the others. And it seems they're in a community tank too, there are many times of even just one male in a community tank who decided that actually, he didn't like the other fish and killed/bit most of the other fish in there. Bettas aren't livebearers, they'll quite happily attack anything they don't like. Including themselves, sometimes. Oh, and don't take advice from people who work in pet shops, as a general guide, their main aim is to sell, sell sell. Which is why they keep brackish fish in FW, sell goldfish bowls and, indeed, sell bettas to people in who's tank they won't work in.

yes i know what you mean when i first bourght the male he atacked all of my guppys while i was at work all of there finns were ripped of and i could see one of the orange finns hanging out of the fighters mouth. so when i went up the lfs they said thats if i bourght 2 females it would calm him down. (i think they see me coming) do you suggest i get rid of them?

get the male a tank of his own (a 2.5 gallon - 5 gallon would be fine)
the girls you can keep in the community if they're behaving themselves, watch it with a pair though, they're best in groups of 4+ as they can be as aggressive as the males.

And another point of imcompatability, guppies are a definate no-no with generally any bettas. As you can see, they look slightly like very miniature male bettas. The best thing would be to perhaps get smaller tanks to house each of the bettas individually, a couple of gallons would be enough for each. Or, get the male his own tank, and get a 10g for the two females, and then add four more females to make a sorority tank.

Don't get rid of them, just put the male in a 1Gallon tank and he will be fine (it's not too small for him, even though it seems like it) and keep the females in the community tank. So just get a small tank for your male and he should be fine. I was going to breed bettas too, but like you I didn't know anything about them and I got told not too, and I didn't, I think you should listen to these people as some of them have bred bettas for years and they provide very good information!

I would definatly say put the male into a seperate tank. You can get the small glass ones for £9.99 in P@H and even cheaper in other shops. If you have no way of seperating them i would consider rehoming them

thanks for everyones advice.
if i keep the females in the same tank with other fish and take the male out, do you suggest i get 2 more females

everything i have read says that females are best kept in groups of at least 4 to spread the aggresion rather than it just be the 2.But if you did get more and they did get into serious fights you would again need more tanks to seperate them
