Hello all, I am new to this site today. I am worried about my Zebra Danio. I had only one in the tank and last week bought another one, I don't know the sex of either of them. The new one chases the old one around but they seem happy together. Over the last few days the old Danio has got fat and around his?her bottom are looks pink, scales are fine. Do you think it is pregnant.
How do I know if this fish is male or female.
I have sent a picture as an attatchment
Thank you for your help.
Alison

We have had this one for about two years

Sorry to hijack the thread, but how long to fish stay pregnant before dropping their eggs? I'd not thought about it before but one of my zebra danios looks exactly like the one in the picture (ie pregnant!!) so how long before I can expect eggs?

Every two weeks if a male is present they will spawn together. The male chases the female and she will scatter the eggs into the gravel

I have got 6 zebras and mine spawn nearly every day, forst thing in the morning, the males turn a bronzey colour and chase the females untill the deposite their eggs in my java moss. How many zebras have you got?

Mine tend to stert as soon as the lights go on and it can last for a couple of hours, you will see the eggs being scatterd and you will also see your other fish eat them as fast as there laid. You may hvae to get some more zebras maybe 5 more, and get some java moss and attach it to a piece of slate or rock and whatch them go.

Sorry to inturupt but will they eat the eggs that are scattered on plain gravel? I have had a male and two females for a week.
