I just bought a new camera and am trying to learn how to use it effectively....so far my fish pics aren't comming out too nicely. I've had to digitally enhance them a bit to see much detail/color. Do these look too doctored up?
Also--- Is anyone else using a Nikon Coolpix that can offer some advice on settings and setups? :dunno:

the exposures come out strange, so here I've had to play with the gamma setting to balance out the light and dark.

raising African cichlid fry is actually pretty easy. By the time the mom spits them out they're usually big enough to feed crushed flakes to. And with enough rock crevises, they survive until they're big enough to not become a cichlid-snack. :p

wow those fish are gorgeous im in luuuurve

Uh oh, you've opened a whole can of worms here! I Looooove talking 'bout fish! :hey:

Here are the names of the fish if you want to google and read more about them.
Maylandia callainos (aka Pseudotropheus zebra "cobalt")
Labeotropheus fuelleborni OB Morph

They are African cichlids, endemic to Lake Malawi. They have specialized jaws for scraping growth off of rocks, and they are mouth brooders. They are a very social kind of fish and stake out territories in which to attract mates and raise their offspring.
I think they are the coolest fish on earth

Hi Ginge, the adult fish are about 2.5 years old now, but the fry are only 3 months old. What else do you have in the tank besides the the H. moorii and L. caeruleus? You might want to wait a little more than a week before you release them -- just to make sure they don't look like snacks to your other fish. Do you have a a little betta tank or something to raise them in?

wow is all i can say

Thanks guys!
Here's some more eye-candy!!
