Ken 25 Journal Update New Set Up

hi just a tank update, i have just finished changing my tank around, i replaced 1 of the plant pots with a piece of bogwood which i think looks a lot better, if some of you remember i had that spider plant in the middle which started to rot because it was non aquatic as some of you pointed out, (thank you). as i was changing the tank around i started to notice some baby fish swimming around so i started to scoop them up and put them into a breeding trap away from the other fish some got eaten in the process i think they must be fighters because there the only females in the tank. anyway let me know what you think.

1 catfish (not sure of the name)
1 small frog
1 otocinclus
6 neons

chlorophytun becketii

i am only using esha pro-phyll, 20 drops a week, the plants seem to be doing fine though.
the lighting is a floresent tube the length of the tank with the reflecter above not sure which type it is
new set up

hi can anyone tell me how to look after the baby fish ie: what do they eat? cause i havnt got a clue.

hi i changed all my tank round sunday, i replaced the gravel with sand and took the internal filter out and replaced it with a eheim external filter which is much better. let me know what you think. also shall i get blue or black for the backround?

just a quick update, i recieved my c02 kit today and fitted it to my tank, no c02 bubbles yet but i think it takes a while to work. got some new plants now, hopfully these will last now i have got the c02 kit

Cool, cool, looking much better with the added plants. I take it the CO2 is a nutrafin kit? If you're using the stuff that came with it, it can take a day or two to get going.

yes it is the nutrafin kit, i started to think that i did something wrong when it wasnt working, untill i read the instructions. hopefully it will be working tomorrow.

Yeh should be I would add that most people on here use a DIY yeast mix, as it gives better results and starts working much faster (within an hour, sometimes less) Have a look here for the mix to use.

yes ok i will see how i get on with this mix first and then give that a try when im a bit more clued up. how do you know how many bubbles there should be per min? or second?

WIth regards to bubbles per min, since its a yeast system u cant control that directly as you would with a pressurised system. You need to get the mix right. Thats why most people are recomending a DIY mix then u have more control and the mix recommended in the link above seems quite effective at supplying 30 ppm in smaller tanks like ours. The nutrafin mix is pretty crap as well, mine didnt even start bubbling until 2 days after i added it! If i was you, get to tesco, pick up some Allisons yeast and suger and DIY.

nice one chris yes your plants doing great, i just got a few more plants today so i just stuck them in the tank for now i think i will rearange it properly the weekend, i think i will do my own mix then, what mix would you suggest?

hi just a quick update.
i cant believe how much better my plants are doing now i have added the co2, there a couple of the plants are growing like mad, i am going to have a go at the ricca the weekend if my lfs has got some, should be fun.
im really trying to find a piece of twisting bogwood and cant find one anywhere so if anyone has got one they want to sell or know where i can get one could you let me know

From looking at you're tank when you started, to what it is now.. it is an unbelievable improvement, it looks great.
Not sure if you did this on purpose, but i like the effect with the sand creating a lower point in the middle of the tank, looks great like that.
Do you have any pics of your c02 setup.
