Thanks Bunjiweb.
My protien skimmer is getting a lot of good waste, but algae is still growing, but slower, hopefully after the 2 week period, the nuisance algae will stop. My anenome is doing fine. One of my starburst colony closed up like SH did, but its slowly coming back. I wonder why it does that, because the other colony didn't do it. I will post pics soon -CF

Today I went to my LFS and bought a red mushroom rock. They threw in a blue mushroom rock which fell over in for free too! When I saw the red mushrooms they were pretty big, but when I brought them home the shrunk, is this normal? Also some of them have white stuff spitting out of their mouth. This happened to the last ones I ordered and those died. Does the white stuff mean that those mushrooms will die too? Also when will they start to spread out more?
-CF

What are you doing to acclimatise the corals? If you are doing it too quickly or your parameters are drastically different to those at the shop then this could be the reason for the white stuff coming from the mouth, although what it is i couldnt be certain, possibly it's intestines.

Ben

The white stuff came out before i started acclimating it. It probably is the intestines, because how many other organs could they have. Anyways, I rearranged my live rock in order to fit the new mushroom rocks in. It looks a lot different. -CF ps thanks bunjiweb you are very helpful.

The mushrooms all lived!! They are now spread out and are 2X there original size. I got a lot of pics.

Its coming along! I do think i know what you mean about "intestines". My shroom's exhale them when stressed. Sometimes after feeding also. I wouldnt worry about them. They look great now.

Looking good. Keep us updated. Miagi.

healthy mushrooms shouldnt expell their intestines. It is a sure sign that they are stressed or that they are being shocked by something, perhaps a temperature or salinity change.

Ben

Looking good mate, Like the new rockwork looks better.
Your anemone looks a lot better as well.
Glad to see the algae has been fought back a bit.
Keep up the good work :)

I still have a stupid cyano problem. It seems to be killing my startburst polyps, so I have to squirt it off of them everyday. Also I think I have a Pussey Tree Coral, so Bunjiweb help me out with some information or some tips on it. The protein skimmer is getting a lot of dark green wastes, but the red cyano keeps growing so I will be putting some more Chemi-Clean in, until the problem stops. _CF My mushrooms are fine now thanks bunjiweb

the kind of water you using might be a problem becuase if its tap water it is possible to contain lots of excess nutrients that cause algae blooms. I use RO water and have never had any algae problems in a 120 gallon tank but hope it helps. dave

Yes you could have excess of phosphate, iron or nitrate in your tap water which could be feeding your algae problem. Also how long do you have the lights on for a day? Are you adding stock quite quickly?

I use tap-water on both my nano tanks and have never had bad algae problems, but unless you use an RO filter you will never have "perfect" water.

Ben

yea I agree it would appear you might want to keep your tank topped of for one it would help with evaporation and noise. Also it would keep the salt level where it belongs thats just me. dave

My water level is low because I was changing the water and I ran out of new water and had to make some more. I have my white lights on for 8 hours every day on a timer. I have a DO unit. Maybe I should try some water from the LFS? My water level is at the black top now. I havent added any fish for at least 2 months.

clownfish that looks way better  i really like the position the anenomeis in and i like the mushrooms :hey:
