Get that Birchir out of there!!!

That thing is going to get huge and eat everything that it can fit in it's mouth and then some. They are often sold as Dinosaur Eels in the mass merchant stores.....

sheesh talk abut jumping down someones throat...

[EDIT-must look at the right sig next time]
the senegal bichir only grows to 12" max, which is fine with angels. They can get any slimmer bodied fish up to aorund 8" smaller if there deeper bodied.

Yes it will eat everything that will fit in it's mouth, hmm, ya a full grown angel will fit inside a birchirs mouth  .
Seriously, see what fish he has before making comments like that

Ah yes. The ol 'your "Bichir will eat your entire tank!!11!!1!11one!!" Syndrome.

Yes, Bichir are predetors. Yes, they will eat other fish. Yes, I did loose 14 neon before I got this little fact through my THICK SKULL!

BUT, the less, long and sleek another fish is, the less likely the Bichir will be to eat it. Things that are more arrow shaped, and less likely to fit in his little tummy easily stand a chance at survining. :)

My Bichir is happily in a 30 long with 3 Medium angles, two rams and a 3 inch pleco.

Yes yes, I do worry from time to time about the Rams, and there have been fins that mysteriously dissapear on one of my angles and one of the rams, but no loss of life, and fins are growing back.

Soon though, the bichir will be going into a grow out tank, about a 10 gal by himself, until I get my 55 gal. At that point, the angles, rams and pleco will go into the 55, the bichir will go into the old 30, I will make a Amano inspired guppy tank out of the 10 and everyone will be happy!

I do miss my neons though. I sure do love the way they school.
