Hi planted people!

I have java moss in my 9Gallon tank. It has a 14 watt light on for about 6 hours a day and nothing else done to grow plants like you guys do! I have attached it to some bogwood and it has been there for well over a month now. How long does it normally take for it to start growing well? Anything I can do to help it along? I did leave it out of my tank in water for a whilst I soaked the wood and it did start to look a little brown, should I remove it all and start again?

Thanks,

Kris

EDIT: Pics are on an update below

I did the same thing with some driftwood. Mine has been growing on the wood for about a month now and it's growing well. I think you have to be patient. I'm not even sure how much of the moss is actually attaching to the wood but I'm sure some of it is. Try leaving the lights on for a longer duration. I have less then 1 watt per gallon and I leave my lights on for 12 hours a day. I think adding C02 would also help it along. I noticed that once I added the C02 it started to grow more quickly.

I am thinking of getting the nutrafin CO2 after xmas so hopefully that will help things along! What about it being a bit brown when I attached it to the wood?

Even with low lighting, the C02 should help a bit. I use the ladder from the Nutrafin system and make my own mix. My Java moss had a little brown in it also, but I just pulled as much of it out as I could. I haven't noticed anymore brown patches since.

here's a pic of it not looking too great is it? I am considering just pulling it all off and throwing it away until I get some CO2 next yr.... what you guys think?

I'm assuming that the brown parts are dead and should be discarded, but maybe some of the plant experts out there can help you more than I can.

I'd say chuck it and get it again in the future. There are no more green patches on it, meaning the entire thing is dead
