My Aquariums & Fish
I have a 150 gallon show tank with four huge oscars 3 tiger 1red and a green severum. you may think they fight, they do but not severely they just tussel i,ve had em for 3 years and not one has yet to be injured by fighting. one of the tigers although is partially blind (he was like this when i got him) because of this he struggles to eat by himself, so i trained him to come to the surface when i tap the glass so i can hand feed him so the others dont steal his meal.
My other big show tank is a 75 gallon saltwater aquarium who was given to me by another family who was moving and trusted my care to it so after working at the Texas State Aquarium (tsa) for a year and having lots of knowlege of both fw and sw aquaria I accepted the offer to move this established aquarium and the fish too. after having the aquarium for almost 8 months i faced my first sw aquarium parasite marine ich. by the time i gathered info about it and got the meds i needed it was too late, the parasite consumed all the fish in the tank. after this i let the tank run fallow and i refurbished it bought a power compact lamp with lunar lights and now i am beginning to build my reef, my living work of art. i am slowly adding live rock right now. the current fish are two fire fish, two clowns (one occelaris, one tomato), a yellow tang a rg basslet, and a lawnmower blenny. the current invertibrates are a sally lightfoot crab, a hermit, a banded coral shrimp a pom pom crab and a longspine sea urchin. i am currently adding more. My other two tanks are a 5 gallon fw tankthat i just set up i dont know what to put in it yet and my first tank i got when i was five years old the one that sparked my love for aquariums is my 25 gallon fw eclipse with my first texas cichlid i got from a friends pond when i was 7 years of age hes still alive today. and theres also chump the mud turtle in a terrarium below my 25 gallon eclipse. i think my love for the aquarium hobby sparked from the tsa (Texas State Aquarium) it was first built in corpus christi just after i was born, my parents took me there all the time it started as a small organisation and today it is a full blown tourist atraction. i do volunteer work there and due to surveys we take people come from all over the us and even from other countries to the aquarium to learn about the gulf of mexico, that was the tsa's main goal. then they expanded they now have two huge aquariums with marine life from the gulf of mexico and many other smaller ones, they also have a huge exibit with two bottlenose dolphins, and also exibits whith otters, gators, sea turtles and their newest amazon exhibit with exotic fish, parrots snakes frogs and more from the amazon. to me the tsa is a home away from home
