I personally would oppose putting any gourami in a tank that size because gouramis(even dwarfs) are kind of like the cows of fresh water fish in the sense that they seem to like to roam around. Ive have many kinds of gouramis and once they settle in like to mozy around the whole tank
The feelers on a gourami are much like a whisker on a cat in the sense that they are hyper sensitive. gouramis will use them to identify odd objects and just to find their way around in the danrk and such.
yeah ive definatly had thos little terrors before. They dont bother plants but they quickly multiple, leaveing clear eggs under the water making them hard to spot in a tank :S . my advice is get rid of them as soon and as fast as possible because they will reproduce fast as hell.
being that i used to work at petsmart i know all about what goes on there. before being hired you do not have to have any experience with fish or anything so yeah that explains the unknowledgeable people that work their. Dispite this there are some folks that work at petsmart that actually know...
Definatly 3 would be great because their are no other fish in your tank that will agrevate them :good: . also gouramis love planted tanks. Pearls are great fish i have 2 in my 55 with a moonlight and everything is great. :D
In my opinion you should go to a third alternative...
a gold osphronemus gourami. im not to sure if the tank is big enough but this would be an awesome big fish to have.
...when you find fish food and air stones in your clean cloths/bed
...when the highlight of your week is looking around when you go to get feeders
...when you have so many extra filters and heaters than you know where to put them
...when you figure out how to pull off overstocking a tank
I too am a former Petsmart employee in the specialty department so i know all about it. Petsmart is an equal opertunity employer, meaning they will hire pros and experts as well as dumb asses and idiots. so yeah petsmart even though it doesnt seem so some times has people that really know their...
Definatly an asian swamp, i love these heavily planted tanks plus these fish are my favorite :D
you should get one of the giant species of gourami in there, that would be awsome
Gouramis have been my favorite type of fish for a while i have kept many different varieties i found them to be very interesting and have very individualistic personalities ranging form very passive to highly aggressive, but no worries i have yet to have and extreme case. This is the order of...
With gouramis and aggression there could be various things in which could be the cause. With gouramis (along with humans) you may just come accross one who is overly mean or aggressive or one that is really passive and anywhere in between. Some times this aggression can be caused by territorial...
