i use the tetra test kits, never had a problem with them, always accurate, it's all down to how you get on with them i find the nutrafin tests are hard to judge the colour, whereas the tetra is easy

never heard of them mate, i keep african cichlids more than anything, ive kept south american cichlids in the past but they grow to big for your tank, central american cichlids from what ive heard as a generalisaion are very aggresive.

you need to look in the new world cichlid section as already mentioned. how big is your tank? Oscars are very messy fish, what type of filtration do you have?

dwarf cichlids would be best for you, something like the german blue ram, or golden ram. or you could have african shell dwelling cichlids

my tap water is ph 8 all my fish live in it happily, ok so it's perfect for my malawi's, but my tropical community tank also lives in it and they are perfectly ok. i don't see any reason for changing the ph
