    Lake Victoria Cichlid Tank

    I know they are very aggressive possibly more relentless than Mbuna so I would provide more rocks / cover for sub dominant and female fish. Never kept them but have been very tempted a few times. Good Luck.

    Hi Clark, I think Rabbut might have a point high Nitrate levels are adicic and since your water is probbaly the same as mine (PH 7 KH 3) it has probbaly lowered the PH very low. >6 I think the The Nitrogen cycle is less effective at a lower PH, could be why it`s slow.     I would leave the water changes until it`s cycled. Then do one depending on the readings before you add fish.(hopefully soon)

    Hi Clark, it sounds to me as the tank is taking a while to cycle because it hasn`t been "seeded" by means of squeezings or mature filter media, in other words it`s leaving it to chance for the required bacteria to colonize your filter. With the filter being seeded it can around 6 weeks or less...

    Both can be fiesty I beleive. Ferris , I never seen one like even WC. They tend not to cvolour up much and end up being very drab. I agree if they looked like that yes they would be nice.

    It`s definitely one of the lake victoria cichlids, not exactly sure which one maybe Pundamilia nyererei , they are known to be more aggressive than Malawi`s.
