No worries. Do you want that powerhead?

    Hc 'cuba'+Sand=?

No, it's ready to use. I've used it twice in nano shrimp tanks & it's good stuff.

This is decent stuff Carl http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/fish/aquatic_plants_care/ground_materials/146459 & won't break the bank. Perfect for your nano.

But that's my point, he has all these things in place. Excess nutrients on their own are fine in a healthy fast growing tank but... if he has as bad a flow rate as he says, he said the water is bearly moving, then the build up of wastes, ammonia & nutrients is going to be bad news eventually...

    Fair Price For These Plants?

£20 looks like a good price to me for all those lovely healthy plants :good:

Hi Ian. I didn't explain what I meant too well there. Yeah I know it can be done with DIY CO2 I just meant I wouldn't recommend it with Carl's current setup. Without good flow he's going to hit problems, the addition of N & P will just increase those problems much faster. In his current tank it...

    Going Nano

No worries. Looking forward to seeing how it changes. I'm jealous that you can get new leaves on Hydrocotyle, it's always melted away in my tanks. I don't think it likes the really hard tap water I use & I can't be bothered messing with the expense of RO (we're on a water meter) or deionising...

It will grow in that light but not carpet, at least not compact carpet. At lower light it grows taller rather than spreading out sideways. Radar is also right about the flow. This is one of the most overlooked things in planted tanks. You need good circulation all through the tank. Without this...

    2Ft Iwagumi

Hi Mark. The ribbed hose is no good for the Hydor heater. You'd need to buy some plain 16mm plastic tubing for the 305 or 405, 13mm for the 105 or 205. Aqua Essentials sell it. The only problem I found when using the plastic tubing is that it crushes when you put it into the rim connectors. It...

Don't forget this has just been pulled from a river, it hasn't been lovingly cared for in a tank. This is a weed in the wild & he's in the right part of the world for star grass too. I still think that's what it's likely to be.

I did wonder if the lilaeopsis was new, it doesn't travel very well. I'm certain that in a weeks time that cabomba will be looking greener:) Don't forget, don't be scared of the potassium either. It's one of the most important nutrients for photosynthesis & almost always in short supply in a...

    Moss And Barbs

It's the barbs not your tying. As a rule barbs are not good planted tank inmates as they constantly pick at leaves. You can try hardy thick leaved plants like anubias etc. or supplementing their diet with greens but in my experience greens have limited effect, they just seem to enjoy aquatic...

Looks very much like Heteranthera zosterifolia, commonly known as stargrass to me.

    Hc 'cuba'+Sand=?

Carl, you can grow HC in sand but...it's not easy. On the plus side, planting it is easier in sand. You need to get the plant out of the pot, I presume it's in rockwool? If so split one half of the rockwool away & leave the other half attached. Next cut the rockwool so that you have about 1.5 cm...
