Ok so I got home about 20 minutes ago and noticed one of my Diamond tetra's eye bulging and him swimming awkardly, leaning to the side almost. I have no explanation for it. My ph is 7.5 Ammonia and nitrite are tested twice a week and have been at zero since I completed my fishless cycle. My...
Cheers guys
I went ahead and got a gold, ivory, and pink/purple (similar pattern to the pattern to the one in your avi winterlilly) and they were added after a week of quarantine. The smallest of the three thinks he's a fish and likes to hang onto frog bit and be pushed around the surface...
Congrats on the nitrites :good:
Remember to keep an eye on your Nitrates and Ph. A high nitrate count can crash your ph to below 6.0 almost overnight. Slowing the cycling progress altogether.

I have noticed that whenever I clean my aquarium glass (weekly during water change) I get a faint algae bloom that usually lasts about 30-1hour and have been reading up on snails as a means to combat this.
I have been offered two juvenile apple snails. One pink/purple and the other golden. My...
Hello my fellow gourami keeprs :good:
I have 5 honey gouramies in my aquarium. Three are yellow honeys and the other two are the red colour morph. The honey male has gone from quite a pale whitish colour and now has a neon greeny blue tint on his face, sunset orange body, bright yellow fins...

Until recently I had thought that the darker coloration was probably due to the stress from being left in my main tank where my diamonds would chase them. Though I'm really glad that seven or so are confirmed platties.
Then nursery temp is 25C should I change that?
And for...
I haven't quite mastered how to take pics of my fish as they rarely keep still and had to feed the fry in this nursery a sinking shrimp pellet to get them together and hopefully contrast the two. Besides the balloon molly the only other live bearer in the aquarium are platies
There are 6 or...
Great footage
Until now I had always thought that gouramis need minimal surface tension to induce spawning. Just out of interest can I ask what filter you have?

I've just read your response on the "cycle of sorts" thread and figured I'd reply here as both touch upon the same theme. To begin with (and as I mentioned in the first post in my cycle log) I had been reading up on the various methods and recommendations on different aspects of the hobby. But...
My advice will go against the grain here...
I currently have 8 wild green neons in my aquarium and although on this forum it's recommended that you wait at least 6 months I personally disagree. My green neons have grown more confident, playful, and extremely vibrant since I got them and so far...

I have a friend who wants to get into the hobby but is apprehensive as he often spends his weekends in the midlands so this log and it's laid back approach will be interesting to watch. Personally I think your A bacs will fair better than your N bacs when you take time out but...
Yup yup
However many you think is best suited to your aquarium. The lights are encased in a transparent pvc so the vapor, inevitable splashes, and so on are not a factor. I was directed to that system by a hobbyist who had been using that led set up on his aquariums for a few of years so...
