It's no wonder he is stressing the fish and tearing up the plants, both of those are primary components of RES diet in the wild. He is being what he is. 10g will do ok for a while, but if you get him into a bigger tank he will appreciate it and when you see him swimming you will know it is better.

I have angelfish fry that have been free swimming for about a week. Iwas wondering when they would start looking like angels instead of that generic "FRY" shape. You know what I mean...they way they look now they could be baby bettas, or guppies even. Still too small for mollies, even...

Generally color change is due to emotion, or as close to it as fish have. She is probably uncertain (and therefore a little stressed) about the new tank mate. With time she should get her color back. If not, after a while you may want to change things around. It is ultimately up to you.

LEss than 5 gallons (and some would say 10g) tanks are too small to hold a stable cycle. It is far better to do the frequent large changes. Above 10g cycling is the way to go, for bettas or any other fish.

Personally, I prefer the matriarchs, B. A continues your car theme, but those manes could be used for future male betta purchases, or other such things. The femininity of the sorority tank is highlighted by theme B.

A good way to remember is this...if you don't know then you have a P. scalare. P. altum, or Giant or Deep Angelfish are much larger (as in salad plate) and MUCH more expensive (as in possibly $100+). They are almost exclusively wild caught and do not breed easily in tanks. Because of this they...

Aeration does not mean a gap, it means bubbles...a pump and air line and bubble stone. It adds oxygen to the water.
