Would Peat In The Filter Be Good For My Discus?

The Discus will love it. Will you like it is the Question. Try and see but keep a close eye on the pH and Alkalinity. Check what your Alkalinity (KH) is. If below 3dkh raise the Alkalinity to above this level. As your pH is so high i doubt this though. just keep a close eye on the water specs...

    Discus

There are lots of so called ways to tell but the only sure way is to see them laying the eggs mate.

    Clown loach is getting smaller!

Get a broad spectrum wormer or anti paracitic med. This will solve the problem if its tap worm or similar. Then feed with high protien food. Like Beafheart Mix. :D

    Ph And Bicaronate Of Soda

sounds like your tank has used up the alkalinity (KH) which naturaly buffers the water. I'd agree with the last poster you need a perment solution and some coral gravel and maybe tuffa rocks. Carbonate of soda will help till you manage to get what you need. As for your tap water have you ever...

    20 Gallon Stocking Suggestions

20g long is fine for bolivian rams and apisto's. i've bred both in 14g tanks with good success. :hey:

    Cory Eggs

Cut the temp back to 24dC and don't feed them for three to four days. Let the yokesack disapear then feed them. Lower the water level down to around 6" to make it easier for them to survive. Watch out though when you put all the eggs in for they might all survive and then you'll have a nightmare...

    What Do People Keep

Discus, Angelfish*, Pelvicachromis subocellatus*, Pelvicachromis taeniatus-Moliwe*, Bolivian Rams*, Firemouths, Neolamprologus caudopunctatus and probably a few others over the last umpteen years but thats the most recent. The * is for ones that I've actualy bred. :D

    Discus

Me's must have been partly pissed when i posted the other night. Personally I worm my discus every 6 months. Most fish have various parasitic organisms in their guts and intestines. With Discus they thrive better when gentle dewormed every so often. Personally i use Plymouth Discus's worming...

    Discus

Discus IMO are not Difficult to keep as long as you know what your doing and or have a good specialist dealer or supplier of good Quality discus. remembering to follow their Advice. As for water conditions the most important thing is to keep the pH stable with a KH of around 3dkh. as for...

    Kribensis Colouring

No this is normal for Krib. They realy only get the best colouring when conditioned for breeding. This being common in all species and sub species of Kribs.

What Can I Keep In A Tank With A Krib

Which Krib do you have. why not get a mate for your Krib but Kribs are ok with most other fish. Why not try some cory's. Strebia being my fav or maybe some panda's. Best to stick to one type though for best results.

    Discus

A 20g tank is a little small even for a matched pair of discus. Your Discus would need at least 18" of depth. A 36"x18"x18" would be ok for four or six small 2.5" fish to grow on but the 48" length would be better. Discus are a shoaling fish so should be kept in groups when young. Do a good bit...

    External Filters

I'd stick to the Eheims. They are dearer but far easier to look after. The Pro II being the best but a bit on the large side for your tank but a good choice if you intent to upgrade in the future. Plus the 2026 lets you cut back on the fow rate but at about £130 from Aquatics on line (being the...

    PH Problem

adding salt will raise hardness as will coral and variuos other rocks. The best way to see if whats happening with your water is to test your tap water after it has been sitting in a glass for 24 hours letting any thing your local water board has added gas off. Plus test your tap water and tank...
