I also wanted a dark shoaling fish. I have a 29 gallon bow front with Eco-Complete substrate. I didn't want the dither fish to outshine the Dwarf Blue Rams who are the stars of the tank. The Harlequin Rasboras worked out great! :good:
I have a 29 gal bow front with what I believe are 2 females and 1 male. Also in the tank are 6 Harlequin Rasboras, 7 spotted Cories, and 2 Ottos. All are doing fine. They are a joy to watch.
The substrate is Eco-Complete. And I do have a black background, with threads of grey in it (it resembles slate), you just can't see it well because of the camera flash.
They look good, but my question is: How do you turn them off during the day? I understand that the spots are push on/off. But makes the other ones turn on/off?
Thanks! This is my first big tank. The largest before this was 10 gal. After seeing my tank, now my husband is talking about doing his 55 gal tank with different substrate with maybe some brown slate. This is really my first attempt. I just had a picture in my head of what I wanted, and it...
Like I said yesterday, these were purchased from a lfs as a pair. I'm starting to believe they're both girls. And I really wanted to try to breed them.....
Here's a pic of my new tank. Sorry about the flash. Taking pics of fish and tanks is proving to be more difficult than I...
These German Blue Rams are really beautiful! I got a pair last night and they had their first meal about an hour after I released them. The menu this evening was fresh brine shrimp and they loved it. These are the prettiest fish I've ever seen.
Does anyone know if these are male or female?
My husband gave me an early Christmas present... a 29 gallon bow front tank!! After researching on line for several weeks I've finally decided what to put in it.
I started with Eco-Complete. Added a slate rockslide and then a slate fence to establish two levels in the aquarium. Next came the...
We have a 55 gal tank (my husband's baby), and we had 4 clown loaches. We bought these fish over 5 years ago and now there are 2 left. My point is that although they were fun to watch and very pretty at first, the two that are left do nothing but dig up plants. They are an easy 2 - 3 inches...
My husband bought a new 29 gallon bow front tank with stand for me as an early Christmas present. I know that I'd like to use Eco-Complete as my substrate (as I plan on a moderately planted tank) with maybe some kind of slate wall to make different levels in the tank.
I know what fish I...
