What Do You Think Of My Tank Plan?

Hi All, I've not posted for a couple of years while my tank has been out of action but i've rekindled the passion and am cycling my 60G long tank with a few platties (couldn't find ammonia for fishless) So my plan is as follows and Im interested to hear what you think: Plants: Lots of mosses...

Tanks And Toddlers - Will It End In Tears?

Thanks for all your replies! Looks like I'll be getting a tank then - that is if no one posts the one where the toddler throws the toy through the tank ......

Tanks And Toddlers - Will It End In Tears?

Its been a long time since I posted because I abandoned my beautiful 60G tank when I had my son. Well he is now 16 months old and I was thinking that it would be great to set a tank up again - he loves fishies and shouts "woof woof" at them whenever we pass the fish shop (apparently it's called...

    Huge Algae Problem

Hi All, My tank (running for 2 years now) has slowley been accumulating algae and over the last few months it has been overtaken. My plants are covered in hairy algae, the hairy algae is covered in slimey algae! The glass is covered in bright green patchy algae. I was wondering if there were...

    Kribs And Acaras Together?

Hi, I've got a 50us gallon planted / caved tanks currently stocked with a pair of blue acaras, pair of 3 spot gouramis, 1 cuckoo catfish (stunning!), 3 cory cats, 2 aglae eaters (going to get massive!! oops) 4 harlequin rasbosas and 6 cardinal tetras. I have always wanted a pair kribs but I'm...

    Indestructable Danios Are Sick

Thanks, will try and get some of the Interpet stuff. Just did a quick google search and some articles say Melafix works against septicemia - this is just tea tree oil isn't it? What do you think? Hubby does water changes for me already - he's not a fishy person so I'd better not push my luck...

    Indestructable Danios Are Sick

Thanks again Wilder - that sounds like it might be it. Problem is that I am pregnant - I don't want to be coming into contact with Kanamycin or Tetracyclin, especially not putting my hands in treated tank water. Have you ever used the medicated foods mentioned in the article? This would be a...

    Indestructable Danios Are Sick

Hi My 4 zebra danios appear to be ill - the only sympton seems to be red fin and tail bases, one fish has red streaks on its underside too. The fin structure seems fine ie. not like fin rot. They seem to be behaving fine too but I'm concerned that this will get worse and spread to my other...

    Coitus Interuptus....

Oh dear. This morning I found the male Krib dead - I don't think it was anything to do with the crayfish as there are no external signs of a fight. The female looks pretty ropey too - I suspect an internal bacterial infection brought in from the shop ( I had only had them a few days). Will...

    Coitus Interuptus....

The crayfish is about three inches, still with small claws so he can't do much damage yet - The kribs are about the same size. They seem pretty passive considering they are trying to spawn.

    Woo Hooo

I hope you didn't add them all at the same time?! Is your tank cycled? If not then I'm afraid you are going to loose many of your fish.

    Coitus Interuptus....

Ferris, I agree with you - I thought the kribs would be able to look after themselves. To answer your question, they have actually all (crayfish and kribs) only been in the tanks for 4 days. I was surprised to see the kribs pair up so quickly (maybe they had already paired in the shop?). They...

    Coitus Interuptus....

I have a pair of albino Kribs who have been displaying obvious signs of courtship. The problem is I also have a 2 inch blue crayfish who keeps kicking the cribs out of their cave. Id imagine it is quite frustrating for them! I thought if I put in an extra cave then they would have one each...

    Bacterial Bloom After Anti-fungal Meds

Thanks for your reply Wilder, Is there much point in using the bacterial meds now that the infected fish are dead? The other fish seem fine. I looked up some pics of columnaris and it looks like that is what it was.
