    Frozen Blood Worms And Bichirs

Allright so far so good my new ( and first bichir) has been very active swimming around with little fear or concern of the tanks other inhabitants: a pleco and tiger barb who cycled the tank. My bichir is very small >2inches. For food I got him freeze dried blood worms but they float. He's been...

    Clown Loach And Bichir?

Would a clown loach present any danger of latching on to a bichir causing slime coat removal, or any other danger to the bichir for that matter? I ask becasue I've heard plecos can do that to bichirs.

    Small Predatory

I would suggest a RB piranha if you have room for it ( and if they're legal where you live). If i was going to have to be 'executed' by a freshwater fish I'd want it to be a piranha, reason being when they 'hit' a fish its a quick blow from behind, and their teeth are sharper then surgical...

    What's Your Favorite Fish?

Blue catfish - they don't belong in aquariums but they're the behemoths of mid-western creeks and rivers that inspire me to go fishing every chance I get. I've always found them fascinating. By the way I catch and release - cant stand the taste of fish.

    Bicher Escape Q

How effective would water lowered to 5-8" bellow the rim of a tank be at keeping a bicher in? The tank has a top as well i just want to know how paraniod I need to be proofing it. I dont own the bicher yet so i cant tell you any specifics; I'd like an armored ( I like the way they look) if I...

Low Light Easy To Grow Carpeting Plants?

Java moss is the king but all almost all moses will grow in low light conditions so really just pick a moss that you like, though the same traits that allow them to do this also make them grow slowly. I dont know a low light carpet plant that grows fast...wish I did.

    New Planted Tank!

A compact flourescent bulb in that fixture would give you more equivelent wattages of light for same energy use, a reflecter will help make shure you get the most amount of light from what you got. This can be done with carefull use of alluminan foil (make shure fixture isnt over heating after...

    New Planted Tank!

Specifics on your light would be helpfull ( type of bulb and spectrum), and I'm assuming your substrate is all gravel? I can tell you though no matter what light your using 1.3 is not enough light to keep most of those plants alive, remeber its not nessarely just the galleons but tank shape...

Just Before I Make A Potentially Expensive Mess

A lot of articles ive read suggest a layer of plaint soil between two layers of sand or pea gravel might be a cheeper option then covering whole tank with expensive growing soil.

    Bogwood?

I doubt there is much difference now considering wood for aquariams in better treated then it would have been when the hobby was smaller, but before then actual "bog" wood would have been better as the acids created from a peatbog would have a natural "treatment" like effect on the wood, almost...

Thanks, I intend to get ten+ ( going for 12-13, expecting to be down to around 9-10 as they mature) as soon as possible, but Ive had only five now for several weeks and theres been little fighting. There in a 55 with plenty of hiding spots and every time one of them gets aggresive its been...

    Exodons

I am building a shoal of exos, I have 5 so far, the biggest being just under 2" the littlest being about two thirds that big. I have no problem getting them to eat, their eating a cichlid meat based pellets as their staple diet and may start getting feeders as a mounthly treat when and if I get...
